Hours of Congestion on I-5 with Variable Tolls

The study results have found:

  • As the cost of a toll rises, the average hours of congestion decline. At some point the number of users declines and the funding available is reduced. This is what happens in Scenario 1G.
  • If both I-5 and I-205 bridges are tolled, more people will choose to use I-5 because it is a more direct and efficient route to their destination. As a result, the hours of congestion on I-5 would increase.

Note: Draft EIS toll is $2 during peak hours and less during off-peak hours.
