Number of Vehicles on I-5 and I-205 with Variable Tolls

The study results have found:

  • As the cost of a toll rises, the average number of vehicles crossing the river declines. At some point the number of users declines and the funding available is reduced.
  • If both I-5 and I-205 bridges are tolled, more people will choose to use I-5 because it is a more direct and efficient route to their destination. As a result, the number of vehicles on I-5 would be higher compared to tolling I-5 only. However, the total number of vehicles crossing the river would be fewer if both bridges were tolled.

Note: Draft EIS toll is $2 during peak hours and less during off-peak hours.
